Planning your year would be so easy using these

23 Nov

Seriously – this would be so perfect for me, my house, my kitchen, no my study, ok, anywhere, it’s so lovely, all these colours, I’m convinced it would help me organize my year perfectly… (Saw this on Lil Magoolie)

And then you have the Lego Calendar…. how cool – wouldn’t it be great to have to build your calendar each month…

And lastly, another find from Lil Magoolie are these cute animal calendars for 2012 (available on Etsy)

Gift wrapping ideas

15 Nov

I think gift wrapping is as much of an art as selecting the perfect gift for someone. When someone takes the time and effort to beautifully wrap a gift, I think the value of that gift goes up ten times instantly, just because of the extra love that goes into the wrapping. That said, if you’re like me, it’s always good in theory and it’s wonderful to ooh and aagh at other peoples beautifully wrapped gifts, but I always wake up too late (like 5 minutes before walking out the door to wrap the gift) to get the wrapping part right… here are a few ideas I found that are nice and simple that I’m going to try out on a few gifts for kiddies coming up. Let me know what you think?

And lastly – next time you either need to wrap a gift card, or you need a ‘birthday card’ for a littlely, balloons (like this one) are always such a winner I think!

Hot Air Balloons and Aeroplanes

11 Oct

Knit your own hot air balloons – how lovely are these from The Making Spot, and how gorgeous would they look hanging from your kids bedroom roof.. I’m all loved up with them… You can download the knitting pattern from Etsy

And then how cute is this Hot Air Balloon, I mean, Parachute and Aeroplane birthday party from Birds Party! The cupcakes are my favourite decor item I think!

p.s. I blogged previously on Hot Air Balloons – great tutorial from Curly Birds on how to make your own!

So many ways to use a Pin Wheel

5 Oct

For some reason pin wheels remind me of ‘childhood’ – I’m not exactly sure why this is, because if I’m honest I don’t think I’ve actually ever even made a pinwheel – don’t judge me :) . Anyway, they do remind me of childhood, maybe it’s the simplistic pleasure they can give you (she says not having much experience with them!). Needless to say I’m going to add this to my list of things to make… and when you see some of the pictures and ideas below I’m sure you’ll also be giving it a bash.

For starters, how stunning are these gift boxes (seen on zsazsabellagio) with a simple pin wheel on top!

And then as soon as you’ve stopped thinking “what a good idea”, pop on over to Chic Cheap Nursery for some true inspiration for the most stunning nursery where they’ve made a pinwheel mobile (amongst a stunning nursery!)

Love this idea for that special day (from Oh Lovely Day)

Or to be used for a table number (pic from wedding chicks)?

Teacher gift idea from The Twinery Blog

And how lovely is this bunting available on Etsy

Work spaces for moms

27 Sep

So I’m in the process of revamping my office space -  I decided it was well over due that I made my space where I spend most of my days inspire me and not be a place that consists of walls,  a desk (two actually – one for me and one where the unfinished filing sits), some way too much filing and not enough ribbon, glue, pretty paper etc..

Here’s some inspiration that I’ve found recently….

Both these images come from here

And then there’s this ‘old beverage cart’ that’s been revamped… There really are some talented people in this world don’t you think! Image from “Tiny Craft Areas to Inspire” from Everything Etsy.

Seriously…. one day I’m going to have a sewing machine in my office space… That’s a promise… watch this space!

(Image from Tumblr)

I need a craft cupboard like this! (Image source)

oh well… let’s see how this project goes… so far the painting that started on the weekend is on hold until next weekend, my desk is facing the wrong way, files everywhere. In other words, it’s looking NO where close to any of the pics above.. I’ll post some photos, hopefully soon, of how it turns out…

It’s ‘Choose Glass Week’

9 Sep

And in acknowledgement of this week today’s post includes all things with glass! It’s a tough world out there being a parent, knowing what’s best for your kids – I do know I’ll make more of an effort to heat my monkey’s food up in a glass container from  some of the reading material that I’ve seen recently.

5 reasons to choose glass

  • Glass is infinitely recyclable
  • Glass is versatile
  • Glass adds style to any occasion
  • Glass is the healthy choice
  • Things taste better in glass

Gerbera’s are my favourite favourite flower – and I love the simplicity of a gerbera in a glass bottle, with some ribbon around the bottle. (I love it so much in fact that this was part of our decor at our wedding…) Image from Weekend Host

These adorable glass bud vases are available at the In Good Company online shop

Can’t think of something to get for a birthday present for someone who has everything – how about a glass jar filled with colourful sweets… perfect! (Image from Shop Sweet Lulu)

Growth Charts

23 Aug

Is it only me, but how quickly do these monkey’s grow! I love the idea of a grown chart, and recording heights together with milestones… Here are a few that I found out there!

How lovely would this be for a gift at a baby shower. I kind of DIY growth chart from Lilsugar

I LOVE this growth chart. Ever wondered if you’re smaller than the Statue of Liberty’s nose or would make the height requirement to become a NASA astronaut. The height of a blue whales heart, or even Napoleon…  – this growth chart would be for you.

Love recording milestones with photos, so this growth chart would be good for us.

TeePee’s

3 Aug

How cool is this teepee and room in general from here. Love the cushions, love the bunting, love it all.

These adorable photos are from Renee Hindman Photography.

Now as far as I can tell, this TeePee is actually for sale, or can be made to order from Henry’s House

not sure if this qualifies for a teepee, but it’s close enough in my books and it’s still so cute!

And if you’re the adventurious sewing type, here’s a tutorial from Lincraft that I found on how to sew your own teepee (I can’t vouch for the pattern as haven’t tried it!)

Or another to make from Sew Mama Sew

Doilies!

6 Jul

I have to admit, that never in a hundred years did I ever think that I would write a post on Doilies! If my granny ever blogged, then yes, maybe a subject for her, but never did I think a subject for me! Well… the lesson here… is never say never! Maybe not my usual post, but still, too lovely not to share with you all, and many of these would look so beautiful in a nursery don’t you think?

Like these hanging doilies from Lil Magoolie together with the link to the original DIY

Or how about this doilie mobile to hang over a cot ( from OhDeeDoh)

Just love these jars and how they use doilies with the hearts for decor…..just lovely! (and from Crescendoh)

And how about these sweet doilie flowers from Design Dazzle

Grannies around the world will be proud :)
